How To Fit My SportDOG® 425X, 425XS and 425XCamo Collar
Avoid leaving the collar on the dog for more than 12 hours per day to prevent skin irritation. If you notice redness or irritation, discontinue use of the product until the skin is no longer irritated.
X-Series: Fit The Collar
Ensure the collar is off. Wait 10 seconds and confirm no lights to confirm the collar is off. To turn it off, press and hold the power button until the light turns red.
Place the collar on your dog. Make sure your dog is standing and place the collar on the side of your dog’s neck below the jawbone.
Fasten the collar so that it fits snugly. You should only be able to fit one finger between the Contact Point and your dog's neck. This will help ensure both Contact Points are touching your dog's skin.
If your dog has long or thick fur, you can trim the hair down (DO NOT shave) or use the longer Contact Points included in your kit. Additionally, you can purchase long Contact Points here.
Recheck the fit. Dogs may tense up while being fit for the first time. Allow your dog to wear the collar for about 10 minutes, then recheck the fit and adjust as necessary.
Trim the collar strap. Once your collar is fit properly, you may notice the leftover strap is very long. You can trim that strap but leave room if your dog is still growing or for a thicker winter coat.
